How to Download and Install Digital Voice Editor Version 3.1.03




The latest version of Digital Voice Editor is 3.1.03, which was released on December 10, 2008. This version supports the following Sony IC recorder models:


  • ICD-BP Series



  • ICD-MS Series



  • ICD-MX Series



  • ICD-P Series



  • ICD-S Series



  • ICD-ST Series



  • ICD-SX Series



To download and install Digital Voice Editor Version 3.1.03, follow these steps:


  • Create a folder named "sonytemp" on your C drive.



  • Download the file DVESetup_EN.exe (58,730kb) from [Sony's website] into the folder you created.

You can save the messages recorded by an IC recorder onto your computer hard disk by the messages or the folders. You can also add the messages saved in the computer hard disk to an IC recorder. To do this, follow these steps:


  • Connect your IC recorder to your computer with a USB cable.



  • Start Digital Voice Editor.



  • Select your IC recorder model from the [IC Recorder] menu.



  • Select the message or folder you want to save or add from the IC recorder window or the PC window.



  • To save a message or folder from the IC recorder to the computer, click [Save] on the toolbar or select [Save Message] from the [File] menu.



  • To add a message or folder from the computer to the IC recorder, click [Add] on the toolbar or select [Add Message] from the [File] menu.



How to Edit the Recorded Messages




You can divide a message into two messages or combine up to five messages into one. To do this, follow these steps:



  • Select the message you want to edit from the PC window.



  • To divide a message into two messages, click [Divide] on the toolbar or select [Divide Message] from the [Edit] menu. Then drag the slider to set the dividing point and click [OK].



  • To combine messages into one message, select up to five messages from the PC window while holding down the [Ctrl] key. Then click [Combine] on the toolbar or select [Combine Message] from the [Edit] menu. Then click [OK].




How to Convert the File Format




You can convert the file format of a message saved in the computer and save it as another file. You can also convert a message recorded by an IC recorder into an MP3 file. To do this, follow these steps:



  • Select the message you want to convert from the PC window.



  • Click [Convert] on the toolbar or select [Convert Message] from the [File] menu.



  • Select the file format you want to convert to from the [Save as type] list. You can choose from WAV, MP3, WMA, or DVF formats.
